Hi, So about 6 months ago i bought a Media center PC from HP. I know, big mistake. Well i recently upgraded the pc and basically only kept the cpu and hard drive. The problem i am having is that HP doesnt ship with the OS on a disk, only a recovery partition. Since i upgraded most everything this recovery partition is basically useless. I have a totally legit cd key to windows media center 2005 but i cannot find a good copy on the net(bit torrent.
I just need the cds because i have my own ability to activate seeing as how i technically have a license. If Would someone be so kind to make some isos out of the cds and send them to me. Maybe over msn? I would be willing to over some cash over paypal if things worked out. Its better then paying 160$ for the cds at teh store. If you want to make sure i have a legit cd i can send youa pic of my case badge with the serial on it. Please someone help me.

I am so frustrated! There are a few good copys of Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 on the following web site ( I do not know if this will be deleted as s.pa.m or anything but here goes nothing) i s o h u n t d o t c o m. Extremely good torrent site, what you will want to do is check the comments and such from the users to determine if its a good copy, most are in ISO image format, therefore you may want to use Active ISO Burner (its what I use, free, simple, works perfectly), or MagicISO witch costs money.

If you are having any issues at all feel free to contact me at any time, i check this email every day so I will be able to answer your question, I have been down this path millions of times, especially for work.I do not endorse using torrents or downloading copyrighted material from the internet (blahblahblah) and no I do not repair computers by installing torrented software on them. Well I do't want to ramble so ima be on my way.
Good Luck with getting your computer back up and running smoothly! Let me know how it turns out! OEM and Retail licenses/keys are not interchangeable (ie. A retail key will not work with an OEM disk and vice versa). Different OEM's keys are not even interchangeable, it's ridiculous, thanks again Microsoft! The money that you give for a Microsoft operating system is for the license/key and not for the disk/media. It is legal for me to give you my Microsoft XP Pro, Media Center, home etc.

Disk, it is not legal for me to provide you with my license/key. The license to use their operating system is what you are paying for. All this guy is asking for is somebody else that has the HP or Compaq OEM 2005 Windows XP Media Center disk, to hook him up with a copy since he has ALREADY PAID MICROSOFT for the license and has it in his possession. If somebody can hook him up with an HP or Compaq OEM disk, it will work. The drivers are not going to be an issue if it came from a different model because they are not necessarily going to load from the XP install disk.
That is only going to be an issue with the recovery disks (if you were using recovery disks from a different model it would load the wrong drivers). You will still probably end up downloading drivers for that model from HP. The OEM Media Center disks will install on non-OEM PC's without any problems (as long as you have the correct key).
Hi, I have a client who by the idiocy of DELL was recommended to get a Raid Stripe 0 and one drive failed. Long story short she almost lost everything. They sent a 3rd party technician to her place to replace one of the drives but she has misplaced the dell CD. Oziexplorer 3.95.2.
So he replaced the drive and re-established the raid and that was it. The computer was running Windows Media Center 2005. Obviously she has a legitimate serial number and etc.
I've tried to install Windows media Center OEM, Retail, (off the 9 in 1 Windows XP SP2 cd) and I even have an image of a supposed Dell Media Centre SP3 disc. None of these worked.
Short of ordering a new disk from dell is there anything I can do to get the serial # to work? I've read articles in the past on the setupp.ini but have yet to modify any of that then reimage. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Majestic. Click to expand. If you could I would appreciate it. Please PM it. I just had the weirdest issue.
I thought I found a good version of Windows MCE that would work with the serial # on the machines sticker. So I put it in a virtual machine, installed it, changed the serial with Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder. Well I burned the image and installed it physically on the machine. It installed perfectly but when I went to change the serial number I was told it was an invalid serial number by the exact same magical jelly bean version (1.5b3 in this case).
Thanks Majestic.

When I wrote the review, I was frustrated that I couldn't just download Media Center by itself. I was also frustrated by MS excluding XP support from its products for the sole purpose of pushing people to the new OS. However, it's unimportant. This review was almost 2 years ago, and people should definitely be looking for something else by now, even if it's not Windows. Windows 7 is great, but people should go with Ubuntu if the upgrade is cost-prohibitive; desktop Linux has come a long ways, and the upgrades are free. Also, I know it seems silly to expect that links to 'XP Media Center Edition' point to XP Media Center Edition and not something else.
Maybe it's CNET's problem, and they just need to take down this faulty download listing.
Hi I am repairing a damaged computer (Dell Dimension E310) for a friend. The computer has a severe virus/malware infestation. While cleaning out the virus (IRP Hook) the machine no longer boots (Win XP MCE 2005). I need a set of Win XP MCE 2005 CDs to repair the system but my friend cannot find the original disks. I do have a license number on the computer and it was obviously running the program so it is legitimate. All I need is the original media and can supply the license number. Does anyone have a set of WinXP MCE 2005 CDs they could make some ISOs for me?
I would appreciate the help. Thanks in advance and have a nice day! Andrew Lynch Last edited by lynchaj; July 18th, 2013 at 03:25 PM.
Hi That's right, I have a legit installation with a product key on my friends computer. Presumably there were original installation CDs at some point but they aren't available any more. Basically I need the replacement CDs just to fix this computer.
Dell does have a way to get their OEM CDs for WinXP MCE 2005 and I've sent a link to my friend to request them. This is not piracy, it is getting the original media or replacement media for a legitimate installation with a product key (license). If I could find an ISO it would save us some time and jumping through flaming hoops with Dell. I really need the CDs only to do a 'repair' mode installation on an existing install on the C: drive. Any tips or pointers appreciated. Thanks and have a nice day!
Andrew Lynch. I have a copy of the disks, there were two, one contained the os and the other the add ons. I could make the iso for each one and post the link to download them, if you like., you will need a valid key, Give me a few days.Hi Yes, please. I have a product key license for this machine and can send you a photo for verification if needed. This is purely a replacement of the lost media of a legal install. Maybe the owner can recover the lost CDs and I certainly hope so but the computer is stuck on the bench for now. I really appreciate your help.

I recommend if you post on a server to keep the link private and behind a 'no robots.txt' so that it doesn't get misinterpreted by TPTB. Thanks in advance. Have a nice day! Andrew Lynch.
Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 CD1:44x15mb CD2:21x15MB - 10/10/04 Not really sure whats new but when I installed it, it was a LOT faster than regular WinXP. Has a lot of extra things like Windows Plus does. Try it out if you are interested.

This comes with SP2 already in it and NO it is not homemade. Install it and see for youself. Nukers: Microsoft.Windows.XP.Media.Center.Edition.Proper-FTSiSo is MCE 2004, not 2005. Use one of the following serials during install:. Once Windows is installed, run the crack.exe inside of the /CRACK dir on CD1 to get rid of the 60 day activation. Enjoy:) - PQRS-note: Seeded at 10mbits.se No I DONT KNOW what is fancy about this so dont ask, download and try or just skip it. And please stay and seed just a while so I dont have to deal with that?
Just to clarify this is an English version of Microsft Windows XP Media Centre edition 2005 The torrent contains CD1 & CD2 Once the torrent is downloaded unpack the 1st file in each folder on your Harddrive, then using Nero burn the Image to CD (Its best to use CD-R rather than CD-RW's) Next switch on the subject PC, navigate to you BIOS Screen and select the option to boot from the CD drive first insert the CD1 and away you go. The discs will install Windows XP Professional onto your PC then using your CD Key the setup will prompt for CD2.
